TPDVM00222 Quinta do Vale Meao, Monte Meao 2023 White

This is what happens when Arinto and Rabigato grapes meet the wild soul of the Douro: pure, mineral-driven elegance in a glass. Oak plays a supporting role here, subtle, seamlessly woven in, letting the wine's vibrant acidity and deep, stony minerality take center stage. Every sip has real texture, real presence. And the finish? Long, complex, quietly noble, the kind that whispers "I'll only get better with time."
But to understand this wine, you have to understand where it comes from.  Quinta do Vale Meão isn't just a producer, it's a legend carved into the cliffs of Vila Nova de Foz Côa, one of the true icons of the Douro. Its story begins in 1877 with Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, the woman they called "Ferreirinha", a visionary who dared to tame the untamed Douro Superior and built an estate meant to prove what this rugged land could become. That audacity never left. Today, the Olazabal family, led by Francisco Olazabal, carries the torch, staying true to Dona Antónia's pioneering spirit while pushing the estate ever further. The terroir does the rest: vineyards scattered across dramatic altitudes, rooted in schist and granite, coaxing out wines of extraordinary depth and personality.
Elegance. Intensity. A freshness that feels almost electric. That's the Vale Meão signature, the purest voice of the Douro Superior, distilled into every bottle.
The formula is simple to describe, nearly impossible to replicate: visionary history, exceptional land, and an obsession with quality that never rests. The estate's limited editions have earned recognition across the globe, standing as the boldest expression of centuries of passion.
To taste a Vale Meão is to step into living history, one sip, and you're holding the Douro at its most authentic and uncompromising.

Food pairing
Perfect for festive occasions or moments of reflection. It pairs excellently with the intense flavor of pan-fried cod or the rich taste of pan-fried sea bass. A white wine that elevates any situation.

Grapes: 70% Arinto & 30% Rabigato
Grapes are sourced from two plots in the Douro Superior with different soils: Rio (alluvial/riverbed) and Janeanes (slate/schist).
The grapes are carefully hand-picked at the moment of optimal ripeness to preserve natural freshness, and then gently pressed. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels, followed by aging on fine lees in the same barrels. This gives the wine texture, complexity, and a subtle integration of oak notes, while retaining its bright, mineral character.
