NOCP0224 Quinta do Cadão Port 40 years Tawny

Cadão 40-Year-Old Port originates from a selection of wines taken from three old casks belonging to the Mateus & Sequeira family. It displays a golden hue with subtle greenish highlights, and an aroma that is both rich and elegant—bearing the hallmarks of its natural aging in casks, with notes of raisins, caramel, and a faint touch of resin reminiscent of a delicate, vinegary tang. It concludes with extraordinary acidity and finesse.

What is the difference between a 30-year-old and a 40-year-old port? A 30-year-old port is rich and silky-smooth, with prominent notes of nuts and dried fruit. A 40-year-old port goes a step further; it is darker, deeper, and more concentrated, with hints of coffee, molasses, and aged wood. It feels less sweet on the palate and possesses a more complex structure. It is crafted for the true connoisseur.

Food pairing
It is best enjoyed just as it is—as a "meditation wine" to sip after dinner. You can also pair it with dark chocolate, a nut tart, caramelized pecans, or a piece of very mature cheese, such as a three-year-old Gouda or an aged Parmesan. It also pairs beautifully with an espresso or a cigar.

Grapes: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Francisca, Tinta Barroca, Souzão, Tinto Cão, Tinta Amarela and old vines
A tawny matures in small, old oak casks, where the wine comes into contact with oxygen very gradually. Year after year, it undergoes a transformation: the dark red fruit gives way to an amber hue, and the aromas evolve into notes of dried fruit, nuts, and spices. A 40-year-old tawny is a blend of various aged vintages, with an average age of forty years. The cellar master carefully composes the blend to ensure that the same style and quality are maintained year after year.
