TSCW024R 1808 Blush Rosé 2023 | Casca Wines

The 1808 Blush Rosé displays a beautiful salmon-pink color in the glass. On the nose, a fresh and inviting aromatic profile unfolds with distinct notes of raspberry, pomegranate, and redcurrant. On the palate, the wine is fresh and mineral, with well-balanced acidity, where the aromas of raspberry and pomegranate come to the fore beautifully.

Food pairing
This versatile rosé comes into its own both as an aperitif and with a meal. It is perfect as an aperitif; its fresh, fruity character makes it ideal for tantalizing the taste buds, perhaps accompanied by light bites such as olives, bruschetta, or a well-stocked charcuterie board.
It pairs particularly well with fish dishes: grilled sea bass, prawns, or a fresh seafood platter complement its mineral freshness beautifully. It is also a fine accompaniment to light pastas with tomato sauce or a creamy vegetable risotto. Furthermore, it combines easily with poultry such as grilled chicken or a light chicken salad, and with fresh salads based on goat cheese, walnuts, or red fruit — a combination that beautifully plays into the wine's raspberry and redcurrant notes. Finally, it is also a nice choice with light cheeses such as fresh goat cheese or a mild brie, and with summery dishes such as gazpacho or a cold vitello tonnato.

Grapes: 100% Touriga Nacional
The vineyard is located 119 km from the Atlantic coast, at an altitude of 550 meters above sea level. The vines are 8 years old and have a northwest-southeast orientation, trained according to the single cordon system. The yield is 4 tonnes per hectare. The climate is pronounced: very hot in summer and windy with snow in winter.
The harvest takes place entirely by hand during the last week of August. After harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and go directly to the press without being crushed. After pressing, a cold settling of 24 hours follows, after which complete fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature.

Beira Interior, located further to the east towards the Spanish border, at higher altitudes and with a harsher, more continental climate, hotter summers and colder winters.
The region is divided into three subzones: Castelo Rodrigo, Pinhel, and Cova da Beira. The soils are granite and schist.
