NABAC00614 Quinta Da Bacalhoa Red 2022

The Quinta da Bacalhôa Red is a deep, refined, and complex wine. In its classic style, it displays aromas of red fruit, combined with nuances of wood and spices. On the palate, the sensations of red fruit are emphasized and combined with soft tannins. It has a fresh, slightly mineral, elegant, and very complex finish. This wine has great aging potential.
In 1974, the world-famous French red grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot were planted, which led to Portugal's first Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot blend in the 1979 harvest. Since then, the Quinta da Bacalhôa Tinto has been regarded as a true classic in the Portuguese wine world.

Food pairing
This wine pairs excellently with all dishes with intense flavors, with some meat fat or herb sauces. Duck, roast goat, or a steak au poivre are excellent options.

After temperature-controlled fermentation, the wines undergo a "cuvaison," a maceration on the skins for two weeks following fermentation — which enhances color extraction and structure. Subsequently, the wine ages for 13 months in new French oak barrels, followed by a minimum of 6 months in the bottle.

Quinta da Bacalhôa is a former property of the Portuguese Royal House, located in Azeitão on the Setúbal Peninsula. Together, the Quinta and the famous Bacalhôa Palace constitute an artistic monument of the greatest relevance to Portugal, classified as a National Monument on June 23, 1910. In 1998, José Berardo took over the reins, investing heavily in new grape varieties and entering into a partnership with the Lafitte Rothschild Group. The Quinta da Bacalhôa vineyard finds the ideal terroir for the production of exceptional wines: well-drained, sandy loam soils and a mild climate influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. It concerns 14 hectares of vineyard on clay-limestone soils, with a mild climate due to the strong Atlantic influence.
