For this exceptional Douro, Luis Seabra draws from two carefully selected vineyards in the Cima Corgo, where eighty-year-old vines root deeply in a complex subsoil of clay and blue-yellow schist. The grapes, an authentic field blend of indigenous varieties, are harvested by hand and processed separately by plot, allowing each vineyard to tell its own story. The vinification is deliberately kept artisanal: whole grape clusters ferment spontaneously on natural yeasts in open port vats, a method that imparts structure, complexity, and an unmistakable sense of place to the wine. Twenty months of aging in used French oak barriques polishes the wine without taming its character. Only then are the two plots brought together into one harmonious, layered whole — a wine that conveys the depth and individuality of the Cima Corgo with great conviction.
