Food pairing
The ideal companion to traditional Portuguese dishes. Excellent with a wide range of meat; delicious served alongside a ribeye steak with pepper sauce, grilled red meat, lamb chops, or pasta with ragù.
Also highly recommended as an aperitif, paired with seasoned hard cheeses.

Grapes: 50% Touriga Franca, 25% Touriga Nacional, 10% Tinta Roriz, 5% Tinto Cão, 5% Touriga Fêmea , 5%  other
The grapes are destemmed and crushed, then fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. During fermentation, the cap is regularly pushed down, and the juice is pumped over. A long period of skin contact imparts color, flavor, and tannins to the wine. Subsequently, the wine matures for approximately 12 months in used French oak barrels; this ensures that the influence of the oak remains in the background, allowing the fruit to take center stage.

2023 was a year of contrasts. Following the extreme drought of 2022, significant rainfall during the autumn and winter replenished the soil’s water reserves. The spring was mild and dry. In late May and June, hail and heavy rain caused localized damage and the development of mildew. The summer was sunny, with a record temperature of 45.8°C recorded in Pinhão at the end of August. The harvest began early, in mid-August. At the start of September, the weather shifted: heavy rain and thunderstorms brought the picking of red grapes to a halt, and conditions remained unsettled throughout the month. The grapes harvested before the rain—most notably Touriga Nacional—were excellent. Touriga Franca, which ripens later, fared less well. It was a large harvest, making careful selection more important than sheer volume. Port specialist Richard Mayson describes 2023 as “just shy of a classic year”—ranging from good to very good, yielding fresh, aromatic wines, with Touriga Nacional standing out for its fragrant character.
