Casa Ferreirinha was a very small brand when it was founded by Bernardo Ferreirinha in the 18th century. Today, however, it is one of the most established wine names in Portugal with one of the most iconic wines to its name, Barca Velha. Purchased by Sogrape in 1987, it has 520 hectares of Douro vineyard in all its three sub-regions: Lower Corgo, Upper Corgo and Douro Superior. The winemaking is led by Luis Sottomayor, who tames the natural exuberance of the Douro to produce wines with a freshness, such as Esteva and Papa Figos, combined with a beautiful depth and texture, such as Vinha Grande Tinto and Quinta da Leda.

Callabriga is a Douro red wine with a contemporary profile, intense and elegant, created to reflect the versatility and passionate relevance of Douro wines. Callabriga is one of the most innovative wines from Casa Ferreirinha,

This Callabriga has a deep ruby red color. On the nose you will discover an intense aroma, with notes of black fruit such as plum and cherry, cocoa and chocolate due to good maturation, balsamic aromas, resin and menthol, wood is present but well integrated, resulting in a very complex and captivating set. On the palate it presents a good volume, round but firm tannins, balanced acidity, notes of black fruit, light floral and a long and harmonious finish.

Food pairing
The ideal companion for roast goat, rich meat dishes, and game such as venison; it is also delicious with oven-roasted meat or fatty fish.
Suggestions include beef stew, grilled ribeye, duck breast, game dishes like venison ragout or pheasant, mushroom risotto (those truffle notes!), and aged cheeses. Ethiopian dishes such as Tibs or Key Wat also make for a wonderful pairing with this wine.

Grapes: 43% Touriga Franca, 32% Touriga Nacional, 25% Tinta Roriz
Aged in new French (75%) and American (25%) oak barrels, over a period of approximately 12 months. The final batch is prepared based on the selections made during the numerous tests and analyzes performed during this period. To maintain the highest quality this wine only has a filtration just before bottling.

The wine is named after the Callabriga hill (Monte Callabriga) at Quinta da Leda, located in the far east of the Douro Superior, about 12 km from the Spanish border. The grapes are sourced from plots at Quinta da Leda and from neighboring vineyards planted on schist soil.

Its moderate color intensity contributes to a sense of greater lightness, featuring red and black fruit, while exuding freshness and elegance. It is youthful, yet refined. Compared to the style of the past, it is more delicate, lower in alcohol, and more versatile at the table. Nothing but advantages.
