ABLA001 Madeira Blandy Duke Sussex Dry

The Blandy's Duke of Sussex Dry is part of "The Dukes' Collection", a series of Madeira wines from the Blandy's house, each named after a British duke. The title Duke of Sussex was first granted in 1801 to Prince Augustus Frederick, the sixth son of King George III. In this way, the collection honours the English dukes, a nod to the close historical ties between England and the Madeira wine trade. Dry and elegant in character, with fresh notes of nuts, dried fruit, and a subtle florality.

Food-pairing
The perfect aperitif, also very good with creamy appetizers, seafood and Indian dishes

Grapes: Tinta Negra Mole

Winemaker:  Blandy - Madeira Wine Association
Blandy's Duke of Sussex underwent fermentation off the skins with natural yeast at between 24°C - 26°C C in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. After approximately 5 days, fortification with grape brandy takes place, arresting fermentation at the desired degree of sweetness. Blandy's Duke of Sussex was transferred to 'estufa' tanks where the wine underwent a cyclic heating and cooling process between 45°C and 50°C over a period of 3 months. After 'estufagem' the wine was aged for three years in American oak casks and then underwent racking and fining before the blend was assembled and bottled.
