Stretcher Bars Individually — Combine Any 45-mm Size | Free Wedges | No Glue or Nails

Crafted from premium spruce, finger-jointed and (for the Classic line) laminated to maximise stability. Wedges included free of charge.

Why choose these stretcher bars?

  • Total sizing freedom — mix lengths to build any 45-mm stretcher.
  • Fast, tool-free assembly — tongue-and-groove corners; no glue or nails. Wedges included.
  • Straight & dimensionally stable — finger-jointed spruce; Classic/Museum laminated.
  • Sustainably sourced — 100% PEFC-certified (CU-PEFC-807830).
  • Professional finish — for studios, framers and artists.

How to order individual bars

For one complete stretcher frame, always order two identical lengths for the width and two identical lengths for the height:

  • 40 × 63 cm2 × 40 cm + 2 × 63 cm
  • 33 × 60 cm2 × 33 cm + 2 × 60 cm

Canvas & sizing guidance

  • Allow at least 5 cm extra fabric on each side of the frame.
  • Stretch evenly, finishing the corners last.
  • Use the supplied wedges to fine-tension the canvas.

Choosing between 45 mm and 65 mm

When is 45 mm the right choice?

  • Smaller, lightweight canvases (e.g., 30×40, 40×50, 40×80 cm).
  • When the artwork will be displayed in a frame.

When to opt for 65 mm?

  • Larger formats that benefit from extra rigidity.
  • Unframed wall display.
  • Easy to add centre or cross braces.

Note: 45-mm and 65-mm systems are not interchangeable.

Braces & cross-braces

  • 45 mm: usually unnecessary for small sizes; extra bracing available on request.
  • 65 mm: add a centre brace for long rectangles or a cross for large squares.

Material & sustainability

  • Spruce wood — finger-jointed for straight, stable bars.
  • Classic/Museum — laminated to reduce warping.
  • PEFC-certified from responsibly managed forests.
