Mauro is handcrafted in Italy. After the wooden mirror frame has been completely constructed and assembled, the entire frame is finished by hand with gold leaf by experienced Italian craftsmen. The exceptionally thin sheets of gold leaf are carefully applied one by one to the already assembled frame.

For this finish, the gold leaf remains bright gold and is not patinated. This allows Mauro to retain the warm, rich appearance of gold without the darker, aged nuances characteristic of antique gold.

The result is an elegant gold mirror with a bright and luxurious appearance. Depending on the way the light falls across the frame, the individually applied sheets of gold leaf subtly catch the light, giving the surface depth and character without making it excessively shiny.

Because the complete frame is constructed first and only then finished with gold leaf, the corners and mitre joints are fully incorporated into the gold finish. This ensures that the mitre joints are fully coloured and creates a refined, high-quality finish across the entire frame.

The difference between Gold and Antique Gold
For the Antique Gold finish, the frame is hand-patinated after the gold leaf has been applied to create an older, more aged appearance. This Gold version is not patinated, allowing the gold to remain brighter and more even in colour.

Fully coloured mitre joints
The wooden frame is first completely constructed and assembled and only then coloured and finished with gold leaf. As a result, the corners and mitre joints are fully incorporated into the gold finish and the mitre joints are fully coloured.
