Letizia is a beautiful openwork Baroque mirror with graceful scrolls shaped like acanthus leaves. Acanthus is a characteristic Mediterranean plant with elegantly curling leaves and has been a source of inspiration in classical Italian ornamentation for centuries.

The generous mirror frame is richly decorated with complete branches and gracefully curling, folded acanthus leaves. The openwork design and varying depths create an exceptional three-dimensional effect. This gives the frame a luxurious appearance without making it look heavy.

With an impressive frame width of no less than 17 cm, Letizia is a true statement piece. Because parts of the frame are openwork, the wall behind remains visible between the ornaments. This allows the mirror frame to visually merge with the wall, making the chosen wall colour an important part of the overall appearance.

Gold leaf
The complete wooden mirror frame is finished by hand with gold leaf. The exceptionally thin sheets are carefully applied over the graceful shapes, scrolls and deeper details of the acanthus leaves.

Hand-patinated
After the gold leaf has been applied, the frame is patinated by hand. This gives the gold its warm antique character and subtly accentuates the deeper areas of the ornamentation.

Depth in the ornamentation
The combination of openwork acanthus leaves, varying depths in the ornaments and the antique patina creates a lively interplay of light and shadow.

Artisanal finish
Every Letizia mirror is individually finished by hand. Subtle variations in colour and patination are characteristic of this artisanal process and give each mirror its own individual character.

First constructed, then finished
The wooden mirror frame is first completely constructed and assembled. Only when the complete frame has been finished does the artisanal colouring process with gold leaf begin.

Fully coloured frame corners
Because the frame is coloured and finished only after it has been assembled, the corners and mitre joints are incorporated into the same finishing process. As a result, the mitre joints are fully coloured, creating a refined and high-quality finish.

Openwork acanthus leaves
The graceful branches with curling acanthus leaves are created in an openwork design with varying depths. This gives Letizia its characteristic three-dimensional appearance.

Italian elegance
From constructing the wooden frame to applying the gold leaf and the final hand-patination, Letizia is finished according to traditional Italian craftsmanship.

In Antique Gold, Letizia’s openwork shapes and curling acanthus leaves are particularly beautifully defined. The hand-applied gold leaf gives the mirror a warm golden base, while the patination accentuates the depth and intricate details of the ornamentation.
